SERIES PREMEIRE – “Past is Prologue” – (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET) (TV-PG, LV) (HDTV)
SERIES PREMIERE – Over the last century at least four thousand four hundred people who were overlooked, undervalued, or otherwise marginalized vanished without a trace off the face of the planet. Last night, inexplicably, they were all returned in an instant to Detroit having not aged a day and with no memory of what happened to them. As the government races to understand the phenomenon, analyze the potential threat, and contain the story, Jharrel (Joseph David-Jones), an empathetic social worker, and Keisha (Ireon Roach), a hardened community corrections officer, are among the civil servants called upon to deal with the uncanny refugees. The new partners clash in ideology and approach, but gradually find they have more in common than they thought as they become familiar with those under their care, including Shanice (Brittany Adebumola), a lawyer and resilient young mother from the early aughts, whose unexpected reunion with her estranged husband Logan (Cory Jeacoma) and suddenly teenaged daughter Mariah is immediately rocky; Andre (TL Thompson), a WWI Army surgeon fresh from the Harlem Renaissance; Claudette (Jaye Ladymore), an influential hidden figure from the Mississippi civil rights movement; Isaiah “Rev” Johnston (Derrick A. King), a black sheep reverend-scion born to a notable televangelist family in 1990s Chicago; LaDonna (Khailah Johnson), a seemingly shallow but misunderstood D-list reality TV star from Miami, circa 2015; and two wildly different unaccompanied teens, Mildred (Autumn Best), a vibrant girl, whose bell bottoms give away her 1970s upbringing, and Hayden (AMARR), an introspective, prescient boy, whose origin remains a mystery. These unwilling time travelers, collectively the 4400, must grapple with their impossible new reality, the fact that they’ve been returned with a few… upgrades, and the increasing likelihood that they were brought back now for a reason they’re only beginning to understand. • Lifetime TORN FROM HER ARMS – Saturday, October 30, 8:00PM Show More
Torn From Her Arms is based on a true story, originally covered by the OZY editorial team. Amidst the ongoing crisis at the U.S. border, the timely film depicts the harrowing true story of a mother and daughter who must find their way back to each other after being separated. Judy Reyes (Devious Maids, Claws) takes on the role of Thelma Garcia, a Texas Immigration lawyer who works tirelessly to reunite the pair, and Gloria Reuben (Mr. Robot, ER) portrays Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist ProPublica reporter, Ginger Thompson, who broke the story. The movie follows Cindy Madrid (Fátima Molina, Who Killed Sara?) and her six-year-old daughter, Ximena (Camila Nuñez), who fled violence in El Salvador for safety in the U.S., only to be separated at the border as a part of the Administration’s Zero Tolerance Policy. Detained in detention centers in different states, Cindy and Ximena endured inhumane living conditions and inadequate medical care, but that was nothing compared to the emotional toll of being apart. Their story would gain national attention when a whistleblower leaked a gut-wrenching audiotape of six-year-old Ximena crying for her mother. The onslaught of media attention incited by Ginger’s story alerted the nation to the cruelties being committed against undocumented immigrant families at the border. Promo

  • ABC 20/20: Gabby Petito Case (10/29) Show More
“20/20” airing Friday, Oct. 29, from 9:01-11:00 p.m. EDT. ‘20/20’ Reports on the Gabby Petito Case, Including the Internet Sleuths Who Helped Crack the Case, and Lingering Questions About What’s Next Following Discovery of Brian Laundrie’s Remains
Gabby Petito and Brian Laundrie captured national attention when the two left for a cross-country adventure, but only Laundrie returned. Throughout their travels, the couple let others into their seemingly happy world via social media, but behind the cameras, a much darker story played out. Laundrie returned to his family’s Florida residence, without his fiancé, and Petito’s family demanded answers about her whereabouts. When Laundrie vanished, the attention intensified as internet sleuths who helped crack the case wide open investigated and theorized, garnering over one billion views on TikTok for #GabbyPetito. A two-hour “20/20” reports on the horror that unfolded in the beauty of Wyoming’s Grand Teton National Park and the details leading to the discovery of Laundrie’s remains last week, and poses lingering questions about what’s next. Through interviews with Jim Winder, who is the former Moab, Utah, police chief, experts on body language, and legal analysts, the program breaks down the viral body camera footage from the couple’s police stop in Moab, days before Petito disappeared. “20/20” features interviews with Miranda Baker, a young woman who gave a hitchhiking Laundrie a ride in Wyoming; Jenn Bethune, who found the couple’s missing van and called the FBI; Jason Jensen, a private investigator and co-founder of the Cold Case Coalition who searched Grand Teton National Park with his cadaver dog; and Mykel Hawke, a retired special forces combat veteran and survival expert who takes “20/20” cameras through the dangerous swamps of the Carlton Reserve in Florida, where authorities found Laundrie’s body. The program dives into why the Petito case went viral and the outcry for the same attention to be applied to the cold cases of others – especially people of color and indigenous women who have disappeared in the same area as Petito. “20/20” airs on Friday, Oct. 29 (9:01-11:00 p.m. EDT), on ABC.

‘Dateline’ Special Goes Beyond the Headlines, Features Exclusive Interviews & New Details in Murdaugh Saga
All-New Two-Hour ‘Dateline’ Block Starts at 9pm ET on Friday & Will Also Spotlight New Developments in Kristin Smart Disappearance
In a Dateline NBC exclusive, family members of Gloria Satterfield, a housekeeper employed by prominent South Carolina lawyer Alex Murdaugh, speak out for the first time about her death after she fell at the Murdaugh’s household, and the recent indictment of Alex for allegedly misappropriating insurance money meant for Gloria’s family. The interview is part of an all-new two-hour Dateline NBC block airing Friday, October 29 at 9 pm ET/8pm CT.
During Friday’s special, Gloria’s brother tells NBC News’ Craig Melvin “it isn’t about the money,” explaining, “It’s like [Gloria] was a nobody, as much as she’s done for him.” Gloria’s sister also tells Melvin, “Did [Alex] have that going through his mind that day when we buried Gloria, and thinking ‘Oh, how much money am I going to get? How can I get this?’” Alex’s lawyer says he is presumed innocent at this point.
The broadcast will go beyond the headlines in the Murdaugh family saga and will feature in-depth reporting on the murders of Alex’s wife, Maggie, and his son, Paul. Melvin will also speak with Curtis “Eddie” Smith, the man accused of shooting Alex in September in an insurance scheme. Smith denies all charges. Additionally, Dateline will reveal new details in the death of Stephen Smith, who was found dead in 2015 after an alleged hit and run. Stephen’s mother and his twin sister speak out to Melvin for the first time on network TV after police recently announced they would look into his death again in the wake of the murders of Maggie and Paul.
During the two-hour block, Dateline will also report on new developments in the disappearance of California Polytechnic State University freshman Kristin Smart, who vanished after leaving a party in 1996. In network TV exclusive interviews, Kristin’s brother and a former student who was at the party Smart attended will speak with Dateline correspondent Josh Mankiewicz. Mankiewicz also interviews insiders close to the case, including Your Own Backyard podcast host Chis Lambert and San Luis Obispo County Sheriff Ian Parkinson. Click here to watch a preview.
Dateline NBC is the longest-running series in NBC primetime history and is now in its 30th season. Dateline is anchored by Lester Holt and features correspondents Andrea Canning, Josh Mankiewicz, Keith Morrison and Dennis Murphy.
