Billy: It’s chilly.

Lily: Yeah. Yeah. Looks like it might snow.

Billy: Do you want to get to something to eat?

Lily: Um… I’m not really hungry.

Billy: [ Sighs ] Maybe we’ll just start with a drink, huh? What do you think?

Lily: That was really hard.

Billy: Yeah. Yeah, I did not expect our first therapy session to be that bad.

Lily: I think maybe going out tonight was a mistake.

Billy: It’s just dinner.

Lily: Yeah, well, we can’t just sit here and pretend like we didn’t have our first therapy session and it was brutal.

[ Knock on door ]

Nick: Sally? It’s me. You okay?

Sally: Yeah. Yeah, I’ll be right there.

[ Sighs ]

Nick: There you are. Glad you answered. Thought maybe you were ghosting me. I just couldn’t figure out why. That harri

Summer: I’m happy to report that harrison has settled in with a movie. Even though he has seen it a million times, it still somehow captivates him.

Kyle: Glad he’s content, because I’m not, after that bomb dropped on me at the office.

Summer: Look, I know that my timing wasn’t great. I totally forgot that you had that big meeting scheduled. I didn’t realize that you’d have to go before we could finish our conversation.

Kyle: Well, meeting’s over now, so we can pick back up right where we left off. Let’s talk about this plan of yours. Do you really want to take our son out of the country?

Sharon: Hey, jack. Jack, hello?

Jack: Oh, I’m sorry. I’m just distracted. I’m sorry.

Sharon: Oh, well, I hope everything’s okay. Do you need anything?

Jack: No. You know what? It’s nothing worth getting into. I just… I’m worried about a friend.

Sharon: Okay, well, you looked a little upset, and, by the look on your face, I can tell it’s about somebody very close to you.

Jeremy: Diane, you look lovely. Reminds me how chic you used to look every time we used to go out.

Diane: Charming as ever. You always knew just what to say to make me feel beautiful.

Jeremy: Just stating the obvious. Sit.

Diane: Oh, and thoughtful, too. I see you’ve already ordered my favorite champagne.

Jeremy: Only the best for you.

Diane: Well, I’m hoping this means we have something to celebrate.

Jeremy: Let’s see where the evening takes us.

Diane: I was just about to say the same thing. The abcs of ckd

Chance: Hey.

Sharon: Oh, hey.

Chance: What’s going on?

Sharon: Well, you caught me. I was hoping if I stared at my phone long enough, I could will it to ring.

Chance: Well, I gather that hasn’t worked yet.

Sharon: Not yet. Mariah and tessa are meeting with the birth mother of a baby they’re hoping to adopt, and I’m just dying to know how it’s going.

Chance: Wow, that’s huge that they’re this far in the process.

Sharon: Yeah, it’s really exciting. But I’m trying to stay cautious and not get my hopes up too much. I realize that a lot of different things could happen that would change the outcome, but if it’s meant to be, is meant to be, right?

Chance: I’ve been telling myself that a lot lately.

Sharon: How about you? How are you doing?

Chance: Oh, you know how it is. Crime doesn’t sleep. Wrap up a case, and another one rears its ugly head.

Sharon: Well, I wasn’t talking about your work. I was talking about you.

Summer: You said that like you think that I plan on permanently leaving the country, moving back to milan with harrison. No, I’m just talking about a short trip to the textile show in paris.

Kyle: No, it’s pretty obvious this is more than just a business jaunt. Otherwise, you wouldn’t be planning on taking harrison.

Summer: Yeah, with everything going on, I’d like for our son to be far away from any potential danger.

Kyle: Hey, hey, I know you don’t love the way my mother’s chaos with stark has taken over our lives, but I hope you realize everything we’re doing right now is necessary given the circumstances.

Summer: No, kyle, I really don’T. It seems like, every day, things are just spinning further and further out of control, and we’re getting dug in deeper. A new plot, a new plan. What’s next?

Jeremy: I am certainly impressed that you chose this spot to meet. It reminds me of that club in ibiza.

Diane: I remember it well. I think I had more than the usual amount of cash hidden in my luggage for that trip.

Jeremy: I was fond of that very profitable excursion. I mean, the dance music, the 24-hour party scene.

Diane: It was wild.

Jeremy: But if I were to accept your proposition, reuniting and using our particular skill set, we couldn’t go back to our old method of doing business together, and certainly not through our favorite party spots. And the feds would be on us the minute we stepped on a private plane headed out of the country.

Diane: Well, you’re probably right, but between the two of us, we’re pretty clever. I’m sure we could put our heads together and come up with the perfect plan.

Jeremy: We do make a terrific team. Maybe we could travel separately. Then you can go alone and make the transactions. Since you don’t have any parole officers tracking you.

Diane: Or maybe we don’t have to leave the country at all. That would certainly eliminate some of the risks for you. I mean, there are plenty of opportunities right here in genoa city.

Jeremy: Mm. I like the way you’re thinking.

Diane: Good. So if we’re going to stay here, we need to decide on a new target. I have a few ideas of my own.

Jeremy: As do I. Take this spot. This would be the perfect money-laundering venue. And then we wouldn’t raise suspicions of us leaving the country. I could definitely see myself having a piece of this place. Huh.

Sally: Believe me, ghosting you is the last thing on my mind.

Nick: What’s that?

Sally: What?

Nick: What you just threw away.

Sally: Oh, those are just drafts of the pitch that chloe and I are working on for jill and chancellor-winters.

Nick: Why don’t you let me take a look at it. I know jill very well. I might be able to give you some insight on how to win her over.

Sally: Uh, no, no. Really, the drafts are not worth looking at, but I might take you up on your offer once we figure everything out. Did you really think that I was trying to blow you off?

Nick: Nah, I wouldn’t be here if I did. I was just thinking about you. A lot. I was just wondering how you’re doing. I’m hoping the stomach bug didn’t come back to bite you. Are you still feeling better?

Sally: Yeah. Yep, I’m fine.

Nick: You sure? A healthier heartcould

Billy: You know, I got to be honest. I did not expect our first therapy session to go the way that it — that it did.

Lily: Well, how did you think it was going to go?

Billy: I — I don’t know. I guess it was — I just thought it would be a little bit more conversational, you know, like, “how long have you been together?” “Where did you meet?” “Do you have friends in common?” But the guy was just — he was hard and… I mean, he didn’t even chuckle when I tried to lighten the mood with a joke.

Lily: I know. He didn’t even give a polite smile.

[ Sniffles ]

Billy: You know, maybe — maybe we need a new therapist. We can try somebody different.

Lily: Well, did you disagree with anything that he said?

Billy: No. Unfortunately, he was on point.

Lily: Right, so would you want someone to sugarcoat things and lie to us?

Billy: [ Sighs ] No, I think brutally honest is the way to go.

[ Sighs ] I think I’m just trying to process this.

Lily: Yeah. Me, too. I think, though, that a lot of what we talked about, we kind of already knew. You know, we’ve been going in opposite directions for a while now.

Billy: Yeah, some of the questions that he asked and the way that we answered them…

Lily: I know. It’s like we have so little common ground that we were destined to end up like this.

Chance: There are far more interesting things to talk about than me. Trust me.

Sharon: Look, I know you’ve been going through a rough time. I genuinely want to know how you’re doing through all of it.

Chance: Yeah, alright. Um… well, honestly, life’s just kind of weird right now. You know, all of a sudden, I feel like I have to establish new habits. You know, like, even little things that used to get the day started are different. I mean, the — the anticipation of seeing dom in the morning, that used to give me an bed.

Sharon: I understand exactly how you feel. I felt the same way when rey died and my daughter moved out. You know, with faith away at college, I realized how long it’s been since I’ve had dinner alone. Now it’s almost every night.

Chance: That’s exactly what I’m talking about. I mean, it’s little things like that that just hits home a little harder, right? I mean, suddenly I’ll look up and it’s late, and I haven’t eaten because dinner’s just about food now. Used to be about family time, you know, talking over our days, going over dom’s latest achievements, getting him fed before bedtime.

Sharon: Yeah, the joys of family, right? Hey, I have an idea.

Summer: Let’s face it, there’s no guarantee that this is going to get rid of stark. Bribes and threats were not enough to send him packing. Your mom’s fake disappearance didn’t fool him into walking away. So what makes you so sure that this is going to be the end?

Kyle: Because she knows him very well. She knows how to handle him.

Summer: And what happens when stark figures out that diane is setting him up to take the fall? What happens when he feels trapped or provoked? Kyle, this is serious.

Kyle: She is risking her own safety for all of us.

Summer: It’s not just her own safety she’s risking.

Kyle: Just believe me, summer. I would never, ever let danger come anywhere close to you or harrison. I hope you know me better than that.

Jack: [ Sighs ]

Diane: You need to look elsewhere for a base of operations. This club would not be a good fit.

Jeremy: [ Scoffs ] Whatever happened to living life on the edge? Huh? Thought you missed it. Don’t tell me you’re getting cold feet before I even agree to join forces with you.

Diane: No, no, I’m just — I’m just looking out for you. This club is owned by noah newman, as in victor newman’s grandson. And the space is leased from the owners of the grand phoenix, chancellor-winters, which is owned by two more power families in this town. Just trust me. Trust me, you don’t want to cross them.

Jeremy: Sounds like you’re making excuses.

Diane: [ Sighs ] No, but as your former and hopefully soon-to-be accomplice, you need to listen to me. I know this town and the people in it better than most. And I remember that you like stirring up all kinds of trouble, but this is one headache you don’t need.

Jeremy: Okay. I’ll take your lead on this one.

Diane: I will say, I am encouraged by your current train of thought. You know, it sounds like you’re coming up with a new way to do your business, making plans, and hopefully accepting my offer. It would be nice to officially be on the same side with you.

Jeremy: Not so fast. You still have to pass my loyalty test. Only daisy cottage cheese will do

Sally: Yeah, my stomach issues must’ve just been something that I ate ’cause i am back in full fighting mode now, and if I seem a little off at all, it must just be this proposal that I’m struggling with.

Nick: Okay, well, I won’t be pushy and try to help again, but may I offer an alternate suggestion?

Sally: Like what?

Nick: When I’m at work and I hit a roadblock, I think the best thing I can do is actually take a break, go outside, clear my head. Then when I get right back to it, all the ideas just start flowing, and it may work for you. So what do you say we go get some dinner?

Sally: Well, I am starving, but, I don’t know, I feel like if I keep working, I can figure out this pitch.

Nick: Okay. How about some takeout, then?

Sally: I would like that very much.

Nick: I’ll be back.

[ Door opens ]

[ Door closes ]

Sally: [ Sighs ]

[ Sighs ]

[ Sighs ]

[ Sighs ]

Kyle: Just tell me what I can do to help you feel more comfortable.

Summer: I don’t think that there’s anything that will help except for leaving. It just feels like it’s one conflict after another, and there’s no end in sight. I just — I need some relief. For me and for harrison.

Kyle: We have all taken pains to make sure harrison has no idea what’s going on.

Summer: I know that nobody’s told him about the impending danger, but he’s smart. He can tell that there’s been a change in our attitudes, that we’re on guard all the time.

Kyle: And a sudden trip to france won’t seem odd to him?

Summer: Look, I will do everything to put him at ease. I’m going to make this seem like a fun, new adventure. He’s just in preschool. He can miss a few days. It’s not a big deal. And you know what? I’ll bring the nanny along. It’ll help to make things seem more normal. I promise you, I will stay on top of business, and maybe I’ll even get more done without being constantly distracted by all of this craziness.

[ Sighs ]

Kyle: All good points. I hear you. I really do. And, to be honest, I’m scared, too.

Summer: Then come with us. Me, you, and harrison. Let’s go to paris, the three of us.

Kyle: I can’t leave my mom. Not now. And my fear is different than yours. It’s not about any potential danger to you or harrison. What scares me the most is this situation is starting to come between us, and that’s not something I can bear.

Diane: Why would I turn on you if I’m willing to launder money for you?

Jeremy: Well, the point is, I won’t be played for a sucker, especially from you. I just don’t feel I can trust you…yet.

Diane: Well, I don’t see why not.

Jeremy: Well, you disappeared from me once. Who says you won’t do it again?

Diane: I told you, I ran on impulse, and then I thought about it, and I came back, totally knowing that you would be waiting for me.

Jeremy: I don’t even know where you’re staying now. Are you settled comfortably at the abbott estate?

Diane: No, no, no. Jack has had it with me. I was renting an apartment, but now I’m back at our hotel.

Jeremy: Hm, we’re neighbors.

Diane: Yeah.

Jeremy: Perhaps it’d be more cost-effective if we shared a suite.

Diane: [ Chuckles ] Jeremy, we are going to make so much money with our new partnership that you will rebuild your fortune and then some.

Jeremy: Hm. I don’t remember you being quite so confident during our previous alliance.

Diane: Well, that’s because I was constantly living in fear that my true identity would be exposed.

Jeremy: Now you have nothing to hide except for the criminal enterprise you’re preparing to launch.

Diane: Precisely. And as for this test, I really don’t see why I need to at this point. Just so you know, jack told kyle all about the fight that we had in front of you.

Jeremy: You can’t be surprised by that. I mean, you had to know that he was going to make your son fully aware of your latest betrayal.

Diane: Well, now I’ve officially put my relationship with my family on the line for you. They are furious at me for getting back with you.

Jeremy: Yeah, well, I don’t doubt that you’ll be able to win them over again.

Diane: Well, that’s easy for you to say.

Jeremy: Look, I have to look out for myself, given I’m the one with the criminal record that just got out of prison. So I would be the one that would be risking the most if I got back in the game. So any partnership I make with you would definitely require an act of loyalty on your part.

Diane: Alright. I’m up for the challenge. What exactly do you have in mind?

Jeremy: Something outrageous and dangerous, something that would prove that you would go to the limit for me…and then some. (Dog barking) we love our pets.

Diane: I see. You want me to compromise myself, prove that I have some skin in the game.

Jeremy: It’s only fair, no? I’m only looking for a goodwill offering, something that would land you in the same unpleasant place I just came from.

Diane: Ideally not, though.

Jeremy: Of course not. You’d be no use to me locked up.

Diane: Nor you to me.

Jeremy: I know you. I know you can get away with anything. I mean, you got away with your own murder. That conniving survivor is still in you, deep in your soul.

Diane: [ Chuckles ] You know me so well.

Jeremy: You said you wanted to live life on the edge. Well, this is your chance to prove it. And once you do, we’ll see how committed you are. Then we can get back to our activities.

Diane: What do I have to do?

Jeremy: Surprise me.

Billy: Thank you very much.

[ Clears throat ] You know, let’s not sink too far into despair, okay, over the worst-case scenario.

Lily: No, I know, you’re right. I mean, it was only our first session.

Billy: Yeah, it was our first session. Let’s just try and salvage the night, spend some time together, enjoy ourselves, and maybe just share one of these specials.

Lily: Uh, I mean, I’m not hungry, but you can go ahead.

Billy: Maybe we’ll just start with a drink.

Chance: This was a great idea, sharon. The two of us, eating together.

Sharon: Well, it’s not home cooking, but it’ll do.

Chance: Oh, it’s going to do more than that. Trust me.

Sharon: [ Chuckles ] I hope you’re right. I have never tried ethiopian food before.

Chance: Oh, well, I am so pumped you let me pick the restaurant. I’m telling you, it’s music for your taste buds. The spices are unforgettable. Besides, just like you said, dinner is about more than just food, right? Not only am I out of the house, but I have some very lovely company to share it with.

Sharon: Aww, I feel the same way. And thanks for encouraging me to try something new. Hopefully, this will be a fun, little adventure.

Chance: Well, I promise you, I will not steer you wrong.

Summer: The last thing I want is for anything to come between us. I have been trying so hard to prevent that.

Kyle: I get it. Things are tense here and at the office, not to mention the added stress with the holidays, but it’s not your fault. You’re being pulled in way too many directions, and one of the strongest pulls is your mother.

Summer: Wait a minute.

Kyle: No, I know that you’re so upset, partly because phyllis is so upset.

Summer: Don’t you dare make this about her. This is about diane’s never-ending chaos.

Jack: Thank god you’re here. I was worried sick about you. I was on my way to the club, despite your telling me not to.

Diane: Well, I appreciate your concern, but I’m glad you didn’t show up. It wouldn’t have helped. It might’ve made jeremy suspicious. Turns out, he still doesn’t completely trust me.

Jack: I don’t like the sound of that. You feel like you’re in any more danger?

Diane: No, no, things actually went okay. His greed and arrogance are overshadowing his doubts, just as I thought, and he is falling right into my trap. But before we spring it on him, we need to do one more thing.

Jack: Oh, what’s that?

Diane: We need to find a crime for me to commit.

Who’s on it with jardiance?

Nick: Hope you’re hungry. Got one of everything, including the requisite extra guacamole. What’s that look?

Sally: I just can’t help but marvel in how amazing you are. I mean, you bring me soup and ginger ale when I’m sick and nachos and guacamole when I am hungry.

Nick: You know, they have apps that will do this for you, right?

Sally: Don’t be so modest. You are the perfect man. You’re reassuring and thoughtful and sexy. And no app on earth can do this.

Sharon: The good news is, i made it through all the spices, and I actually really enjoyed my first foray into ethiopian food.

Chance: See? I told you I wouldn’t steer you wrong.

Sharon: Oh, thanks for the tip, though, on that one dish. The heat level in that, it could’ve blown my head off.

Chance: [ Chuckles ]

Sharon: And, um, thanks for taking care of me, too. I guess I owe you one now.

Chance: Oh, that’s not necessary. It’s my treat.

Sharon: Well, I’ve got to pay you back. How about, uh, next week? We could start our own private supper club.

Chance: [ Chuckles ] You don’t have to do that for me. I can, uh — I can handle solo dinners. Trust me, had to do it all the time when I was working undercover. Just got to get used to it again. I’ll be okay.

Sharon: Yeah, I don’t doubt that, but, you know, you’re a friend, and I enjoy talking with you. You know, maybe we can even venture into another new cuisine. How do you feel about peruvian or turkish?

Chance: [ Sighs ]

Sharon: Okay, I — I won’t press the issue. I’ll just leave it up to you.

Chance: Okay. Next week it is.

Kyle: I don’t want to be insensitive, but I have to remind you, phyllis is the one who invited chaos to town.

Summer: I’m really not sure how my mother became solely responsible for diane’s criminal ex-boyfriend. Don’t you think he would’ve eventually tracked her down all on his own?

Kyle: Seriously, summer, are you defending your mother’s actions right now?

Summer: You know what? We need to stop. We just — we can’t keep going over the same ground when nothing changes.

Kyle: Okay. You’re right. This is exactly what I didn’t want to happen.

Summer: Okay, well, then, will you at least just think about harrison and I going to paris? I think it would be good for both of us. Look, if you’re dead set against it, I’ll drop it. Okay? But if not, then, I want to start packing.

Kyle: I love you so much. I just — I hate all of this.

Summer: I hate it, too.

Jack: Stark wants you to commit a crime. Why?

Diane: As a loyalty test. So that he knows that I’m willing to risk jail time for him.

Jack: Oh, I am not crazy about the sound of this.

Diane: Well, neither am I, but I’ve been thinking about it, and I think I can pull this off without risking harm to anyone.

Jack: You are playing with fire, diane.

Diane: All I have to do is get past this hurdle, and then jeremy will be putty in my hands. He will commit a crime, one that we orchestrate, one that will send him right back to prison. Jack, we are so close to having this bastard out of our lives.

Jack: So exactly what crime are you considering?

Diane: Well, I’ve ruled out any kind of violence, obviously.

Jack: Well, thank god for that.

Diane: Yeah, so I think the way to impress and flatter jeremy is if I steal something of considerable value.

Jack: Well, if that’s all it takes, we can open the safe at the house and give him a couple of those things.

Diane: No, no, no. That won’t work.

Jack: Well, couldn’t be easier.

Diane: Of course. That’s why. It’d be too easy, too obvious. Jeremy would see right through it. And if he asks any questions about why I took something from my family and demands to know the details, he’ll suspect a setup, and he will figure out that we’re all in cahoots.

Jack: Yeah, yeah, so who do you intend to rob?

Diane: Well, my victim has to be someone who would never, ever, under any circumstance, help me out. Steal from phyllis? Don’t tempt me. If your moderate to severe crohn’s disease

Lily: Um…

[ Clears throat, sniffles ] I just — I think I need some air.

Billy: I’ll get the bill, then we can walk out.

Lily: Um, I just… I need some time. Is that okay?

Billy: Yeah. Of course. Lily. We’re going to be alright. Okay? We will work on this, continue to go to therapy. We’ll do whatever it takes.

Lily: Billy, let’s just be honest. I mean, this has been going on for months. And we don’t need to keep doing this. Right? I mean… we can’t keep doing this.

[ Cellphone dings ]

Sally: So… do you still have any concerns about me ghosting you?

Nick: Sally, if this is your version of ghosting, I’m all for it. In fact, why don’t you come and ghost me in the shower now?

Sally: I am going to have to take a rain check because I’m starving, and that is your fault. But I’m going to go unpack the goodies, and I will set up a feast while you go shower.

Nick: Okay.

Sally: [ Sighs ]

[ Exhales sharply ]

[ Sighs ]

Kyle: I wish none of this had happened. I wish I could shield you from everything that’s gone on with stark, the issues with our mothers, all of it.

Summer: I want to protect you as much as you want to protect me.

Jack: Tempting as it might be to target her, I think it would be a big mistake to steal from phyllis. She’s too much of a wild card.

Diane: You’re probably right. Using her to dupe jeremy would be karmic justice, but the last thing we need is her going on a rampage and ruining our plan.

Jack: I don’t even want to contemplate what she would do.

Diane: [ Sighs ] And even though I have easy access to ashley’s belongings because she’s in the same house as kyle and harrison, she is still your sister, so it’d make it seem less credible.

Jack: Yeah, not to mention her growing anger at the two of us becoming closer. No, she could be every bit as dangerous to our plan as phyllis.

Diane: So I guess that only leaves one remaining member of the coven, and given that she’s partially responsible for bringing jeremy stark to town, maybe nikki deserves a little larceny coming her way.

Next Week on “The Young and The Restless”:

Chelsea: What happened?

Billy: It’s over.

Tucker: That’s what I remember and missed so much. Don’t tell me you don’t.

Devon: I’m not worried about Nate any more. I’m worried about a completely different threat.

Lily: What are you talking about?

Devon: We have a new traitor at the company.
