  1. I have some some observations about Sharon’s cancer story line this week because I feel that the show did a disservice to the story line this week. When I was diagnosed with breast cancer, I went through exactly what Sharon has had – a lumpectomy (I actually had to have two lumpectomies) and lymph nodes removal. Given my unfortunate familiarity with breast cancer, what was shown on one episode this week really bothered me.

It was when Sharon came home from her surgery. Her support team – Mariah, Tessa, Faith and Nick – brought in all different kinds of her favorite take out foods because she wasn’t well enough to go out to eat.

One of the things they brought her was deep dish pizza. Sharon and the others were eating the pizza and the atmosphere was that of a pizza party.

When I came home from the exact same surgery Sharon had, all I wanted to do was rest and sleep. The last thing I wanted to do was eat and certainly not pizza. I had no appetite for quite some time, but to keep up my strength I ate small meals with light foods.

In my humble opinion, the show did a disservice to their story line by having Sharon eating deep dish pizza, which is especially heavy, after what she described as “major surgery”. This was absurd and totally unrealistic.

In all fairness, however, she had no make up on; in fact, she looked realistically pale.

She’s had chemo (and is facing it again with radiation) and I guess she’s one of the rare lucky ones who has not lost her hair (yet, if they’re going to do that).

In other episodes this week, Sharon was wearing make-up and she looked beautiful, probably not the way a woman who just had breast cancer surgery would look. I wonder why they just didn’t have her wear make up in all of this week’s episodes. I can understand that she wanted to keep up her appearance for herself and for her support team, but they have unconditional love for her and would not have had a second thought had she not felt up to putting on make up.

Overall, I felt let down and disappointed by this week’s episodes in Sharon’s cancer story line.
