Deacon: You want me to help you ruin my daughter’s marriage. All right. I need a drink.
Sheila: No, no. What you need to do is get on board with my plan.
Deacon: Your plan is bonkers, lady. It’s not gonna work.
Sheila: Oh, again with the negativity. Are you ever positive?
Deacon: I’m positive this isn’t gonna work.
Sheila: Look, the forresters, they wanna make us go away, right? But that kiss between us that hope and finn saw, that is gonna get everyone talking.
Finn: Steffy just texted me that she and liam are gonna be here any minute. How do you wanna handle this?
Hope: Uh, well, um, I think we pretty much agree that we need to tell them what we saw.
Finn: Even though we know it’s not gonna do down well? They have been very clear about you and me having nothing to do with your father and my birth mother. Wait until they hear the latest.
Steffy: When who hears the latest? About what?
Liam: Yeah. What’s going on?
Shauna: It’s gonna happen.
Quinn: It almost did last night. Eric came home. He was definitely in the mood. I mean, I thought his problem wasn’t gonna be a problem anymore, that we were gonna finally make love. But, unfortunately– I mean, it’s just–it’s-it’s so frustrating for both of us. Eric has the desire. He just– he just isn’t able to.
Donna: You went home to quinn and-and nothing happened?
Eric: No. I was so hoping that last night would be– that I could finally be the husband that I haven’t been able to be to quinn for so many months.
Donna: Maybe you’re putting too much pressure on yourself, eric. Maybe quinn’s putting too much pressure on you.
Eric: No, no, no. Quinn’s been completely loving and supportive to me. She has, the whole time. And still I keep letting her down. She has to wonder why I was so excited about– about last night when I came to her, but I couldn’t– I couldn’t tell her– I couldn’t tell her what happened in this office before I went home between the two of us– that it happened with you… and only with you.
Quinn: At least the desire is there. He’s not giving up.
Shauna: But you want it more.
Quinn: Of course I want it more. We both want more. I mean, I wanna feel that kind of passion and intimacy with my husband again. But you gotta admit, this was a big step.
Shauna: Absolutely. I do wonder, though, what changed in eric for him to think he can make love to you?
Donna: Eric, you know how I feel about quinn, but I am genuinely sorry that things didn’t go the way you had hoped.
Eric: Thank you. Donna, last night after– after what should have happened between quinn and me did not happen, I– I just laid down in bed and I-I thought over and over the same thing in my mind. I couldn’t stop thinking about what happened here yesterday… between you and me.
Deacon: Okay, uh, I get that you’ve put a lot of thought into creating this plan that somehow people think that we’re in love and it’s gonna magically transform hope and finn into a couple. But, sheila, it ain’T.
Sheila: There you go again with the negativity. You are such a loser.
Deacon: What you don’t like is when people call you on your crazy schemes and tell you that they’re doomed to fail.
Sheila: Fine. You go ahead and doubt me, but I always get what I want eventually.
Deacon: You as my girlfriend?
Sheila: With all the fringe benefits.
Deacon: You can’t– you can’t be serious.
Sheila: You’ve been locked away a long time, deacon, without any kind of female companionship. Wouldn’t you like to have your way with me? Or better yet… maybe I’ll have my way with you. Pshooo.
[Laughing]
Finn: We were just talking about lunch yesterday at il giardino’S.
Liam: Oh, yeah. Forgot to ask how that went.
Steffy: Yeah. How’s the new menu? It’s not too, like, experimental? I hate when they do that.
Finn: Experimental. No. Um, but we…did see something out of the ordinary.
Steffy: What?
Hope: Sheila.
Steffy: What?
Finn: And deacon.
Steffy: You didn’t speak to them, did you?
Hope: We had to.
Liam: Whoa.
Finn: Just hear us out, okay? Wait until you hear what we’ve learned.

Quinn: [Sighs] I want us to be like this again. Happy. Smiling. Eric feeling like his old self.
Shauna: Sounds like he almost was.
Quinn: Eric really believed that we were gonna make love last night. And when it didn’t happen, he was– well, you could see how disappointed he was.
Shauna: I imagine you reassured him.
Quinn: I held him in my arms, and I said the same thing I say to him every time. “I love you. Stop putting so much pressure on yourself.”
Shauna: Easier said than done. I’m still curious, though. If– if eric really felt that way, what changed? What happened to make him feel like he could kickstart his love life with his wife again?
Donna: Did I ever tell you I could see the future?
Eric: No.
Donna: What? You seem skeptical.
Eric: Yeah. ‘Cause in all the time we were married, you never mentioned this to me.
Donna: Yeah. Well, you know, a girl has to have some secrets, right?
Eric: Well, I assume you’re bringing this up because, um–
Donna: Because my crystal ball tells me that it won’t be long before you and quinn reconnect.
Eric: You really believe that, don’t you?
Donna: Oh, I do. For your sake, not quinn’S.
Eric: Yeah. Yeah. I understand that.
Donna: Even though I’ve never been a fan of quinn’s, I had hoped that she would make you truly happy. That you’d find peace and contentment in your marriage despite quinn’S… very checkered past. And if she really loved you, she would be the wife that you deserveD. To never cause you hurt or a moment’s pain. And she did. She has. And that broke my heart.
[Sighs] I know you took her back, and I can’t say I fully understand why. All that matters right now, eric, is you. You. The man that you are. And I just want joy and happiness for you. And that’s what I will always want for you.
Deacon: You got me. You had your fun flirting. Playtime’s over.
Sheila: [Laughs] Oh, deacon, deacon, deacon. You really have no idea what I’m capable of.
Deacon: Believe me when I tell you this. I hope I never find out. Look, I’m still not understanding what this supposed romance of ours has to do with getting your son and my daughter together.
Sheila: Well, then you need to pay better attention. Because when hope and finn announce this little scandalous news, people are gonna be very, very upset, especially steffy and liam. And I am counting on our children to defend us.
Deacon: And why would they do that?
Sheila: Because despite their doubts about us, we’re their parents, and we’ve been absent from their lives for so long. They-they want to trust us. They-they want to believe we’re redeemable. And sooner or later, that’s gonna cause tension in their marriages. But that’s gonna clear a way for us to be in all of their lives.
Liam: Okay, can we– let’s just back it up a second. Were deacon and sheila there together?
Finn: Sharing a table.
Steffy: How did that happen?
Hope: Look, the point is we saw them, and, uh–
Steffy: What, you felt compelled to speak to them?
Finn: Steffy, just– hold on a second. Hope and I both know how you and liam feel. And under normal circumstances, we would’ve just left. But they weren’t just together. They were… together together.
Liam: Yeah, I don’t know– what does that mean?
Steffy: You’re not making any sense.
Hope: Look, my dad, deacon, and finn’s birth mother, sheila, are involved.
Finn: Romantically involved.
Liam: What?
Steffy: What?
Hope: I mean, we didn’t believe it either, but then we saw them kissing.
Steffy: Kissing?
Finn: Yeah.
Steffy: Are you serious?
Finn: Yeah. We were as shocked as you guys are.
Hope: And I’m sorry, but I-I couldn’t just– after I saw that, I just had to go over and confront them.
Liam: Oh, my god. Ju–would–did–okay. Okay. Okay. What did they say?
Hope: Well, uh, sheila said that, uh, she and my dad are in love.

Sheila: Yeah, but at least our names are gonna be in the conversation. We’ll be relevant. Not on the sidelines like we are right now.
Steffy: In love?
Hope: That’s what they said.
Liam: Deacon and sheila?
Finn: I know it sounds a little, but–

Steffy: You’re not buying it, are you?
Liam: I certainly hope they’re not buying it, guys. Obviously this is a con.
Steffy: Yeah, this is sheila and deacon we’re talking about. This is some sort of sick game.
Hope: I understand your skepticism, and I have it too–
Liam: You under–this– hope, skepticism doesn’t begin to cover it. They’re up to something, okay? And it’s not good.
Steffy: It never is when it comes to sheila and deacon. I hope you see that.
Liam: Please tell us you see that.
Eric: You’re a breath of fresh air.
Donna: [Chuckles]
Eric: Exactly what I need these days.
Donna: Well, I’m not going anywhere. I’m right where I want to be.
Eric: Yeah? Right out there at the reception desk? Sharing that desk with pam?
Donna: Pammy and i have become…friends.
Eric:. Uh-huh.
Donna: Sort of, you know. Plus we have one thing in common. We both want to protect you.
Eric: You and pam.
Donna: Mm-hmm.
Eric: Both believe that I need protection from quinn.
Donna: It’s your life. I am not gonna harp on this. Your decision to do whatever you want.
Eric: I appreciate that. I also appreciate your candor, and your, uh… your smiles and your humor. All of it.
Donna: Really?
Eric: Yeah.
Donna: Ooh!
Eric: And your poise.
Donna: [Laughing] I’m so clumsy. I–I always will be. I’m–I’m sorry.
Eric: You dutifully man that reception desk out there. And you know that I’m married to a woman of whom you do not approve, and you say that you, uh… that you’re still in love with me.
Donna: Just like I’ll always be clumsy, I’ll always love my honey bear.
[Both chuckle]

Eric: Let me ask you something. Ridge, brooke, and katie all believe that, uh… I stay with quinn because I don’t really want to be alone. And… sometimes I think maybe that is the case. What do you think?
Donna: Eric… you will never be alone. So many people love you and– and care for you. Me most of all. We’ll always be here for you, no matter what.
Eric: Come here.
Liam: [Laughs] Okay, okay. How do sheila and deacon even know each other?
Steffy: Let me guess. They randomly bumped into each other on the day deacon was released from prison and they just… fell madly in love? Is that what they’re trying to make you believe?
Hope: Sheila actually started writing my dad letters when he was in prison.
Liam: Oh. Okay, yeah. No, that–that makes perfect sense. I’m sure deacon needed another pen pal besides his own daughter while he was behind bars and he just randomly chose sheila, of all people. Come on, guys!
Steffy: I know! Why didn’t you call them out?
Finn: We did. We questioned their relationship. We asked them the same questions you’re asking us.
Hope: Yes. I mean, we’re not completely naive, and you two, sorry, you weren’t there, and as unlikely as it may be, sheila and deacon, they seemed pretty sincere.
Finn: They seemed in… in love. I mean, I don’t know, even before we went over there.
Steffy: Oh, please. Oh, my god. I am not hearing this. Hope, finn, you cannot fall for this. This is ridiculous.
Finn: [Sighs]
Liam: She’s right. Just–just for our sake, for the family’s sake, whatever sheila and deacon are up to, just stay away. That’s it. Stay away.
Sheila: Take a look at this. I photoshopped it. One big, happy family.
Deacon: When did you do this?
Sheila: Last night. I couldn’t sleep. I was so… excited, you know.
[Whispers] About the family.
Deacon: Sheila…
Sheila: Honey, I know, I know what you’re gonna say. I–I might be getting ahead of myself and maybe I am, but this is going to happen. Finn and hope, hayes and beth, they’re our family, and no one’s gonna deny us that. I mean, forresters can try to vilify us and–and try to make hope and finn hate us, but we’re not going to let that happen. Our children, our grandchildren, our family… this is gonna happen. I’m gonna make that happen. Nothing and no one will stand in my way.
